I Congratulated Scott Steckly on his win & then I asked him, if he felt that today would be as great as it was from start to finish? Scott Steckly said “Not at all.” On the front straightaway after the race I told Jason Hathaway I had picked him or Scott to win the race. “He said L.P. Dumoulin & his brother are roadracers but are getting better on the ovals. He also said, “It was tough on the outside & you needed to be on the inside to move up.”

The Hometown Fan Favorite Car 87 Erica Thiering #RaceCarByAva/CBRT Ford had bad luck for the day. Qualified in 15th position, struggled at the beginning of the race due to brake issues. Made contact with another car early on causing a pinched brake line on top of the existing brake issues. Had to pit to get the brake line replaced, which caused losing laps. Spun out trying to avoid a crash ended up with a 17th place finish. You could hear the place cheer when she was introduced before the race started. The team will fix the car up & hopefully have better luck at Auto Clearing Motor Speedway in Saskatoon.

Like I said before it is worth the drive to Wetaskiwin to see exciting oval racing at the Edmonton International Raceway. The race day also included NASCAR Thunder Cars & STACKER Cars. An autograph session with the drivers of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series, then they even had a Biplane fly-by.
