Interview with IMCA Car 12 Chad Malone
Velocity: How does it feel winning the most prestigious race in Western Canada?
Chad Malone: It is the biggest race in Western Canada & it is amazing. I have been trying for 5 years to win this race, I race all year to be good for this one.
Velocity: You know you just raced against some of the best drivers.
Chad Malone: Like I said it to you before these are the best drivers to me, in Western Canada, are in this series.
Velocity: Well from I could see no-one gave this to you, you had to fight your way, they made you work for it.
Chad Malone: It was a hard one, I didn’t think I would get to the front, I thought I would get boxed in. We went in the 1st corner & some of the cars went one-way & I just drove up through them. I wasn’t leting up for nothing, I raced the 1st lap as hard as I raced the last lap, to make sure they didn’t get me, as they have got me before.
Velocity: How long have you been racing here at EIR?
Chad Malone: 2 Years part time, then the past 4 years full time at EIR but I have been racing for 20 years.
Velocity: I see racing in the blood, your family is also in racing, your daughter & brother.
Chad Malone: My dad also did back in the day unfortunately he is not with us now. We just went one day & just got hooked & are here since.
Velocity: Congratulations on the win.

The start of the day was the Knowles Memorial Dash which was a tribute to a well known Todd Knowles who passed away last December. The Knowles family has a rich history of racing, last year Todd Knowles was a very proud father of his 2 sons racing in the 20th Annual Roy Ross Memorial Race. As mentioned by anyone who knew him he will be missed. Todd’s son Car 81 Tyler Knowles won the Knowles Memorial Dash. 2nd Place Car 90 Mike Clark followed by 3rd place Car 7 Colby Mctavish. 4th Place Car 23 Barry Mctavis.
