This is one of my favorite races of the year, road racing where it is more about the racing than the car. The cars have to be fast but they have to able to endure a beating of two twelve hour races, so just to finish 1 or 2 races is an accomplishment. This was the 3rd year of Chumpcar Canada at Castrol Raceway, the 1st yearwas a 24 hour race & last year it was 2-12 hour races. Like last year the race had to be stopped for a bad storm that brought lightning. Road Racing is a rain or shine type of racing, but lightning is not safe for marshals to be out on the track. It was a good call by the officials to stop the race, the good news is they were able to re-start the race with a wet track after the lightning was gone. There was another red flag for the car that went off the track & had to be pulled out of the mud, the trucks had to block the track to get the car out. After being pulled out the car was able to re-join the race.

Sunday August 6/17, 17 out of the 18 cars started the race. Just before the race started Car 53 Tachophobic Racing found something major on the car ending their day of racing. It was another full day of racing with some cars having Mechanical problems & others having other issues. There was 2 full course yellows for Car 60 Team Slovo hitting the wall in corner 1 & for a car oiling the track.

Interview with Car 15 NNM Motorsports at the Chumpcar Canada Castrol Double Dozen
Velocity: I am here at the Chumpcar Canada Castrol Double Dozen with Car 15 NNM Motorsports. You are a convertible that just finished racing on a wet & then dry track. Did you think you would just drive fast & the water would not touch you?
NNM Motorsports: We prefer topless, we have a nice deflector that, as long we keep moving, you stay dry. The problem is eventually you must make a pit stop, get a caution, then you will get wet.
Velocity: You guys won the 1st 12-hour race, how was your day?
NNM Motorsports: It was pretty good, we had a bit of issues with the alternator part way through. We were able to fix it with a quick pit stop & just kept trucking the whole day.
Velocity: How long were you in the pits for the alternator?
NNM Motorsports: We did It during our regular pit stops, over the succession of 2 regular pit stops. We could find the wiring issue & splicing in a new connector.
Velocity: You were fast but I noticed everyone picked it up in the last hour.
NNM Motorsports: It cooled off, there wasn’t much of the race to save the car for & we had all night to put it back together if something tore up.
Velocity: The track was dry at that time?
NNM Motorsports: Yeah it defiantly dried off by then.
Velocity: How many drivers did you guys have?
NNM Motorsports: 4 Drivers.
Velocity: Do you have any sponsors?
NNM Motorsports: Our Visa is our sponsor but we will give a shout out to Land Resurface in Regina.
