Rockyview Motorsports Park Announces New Location

On March 4, 2014, Rocky View Motorsports Park (RMP) announced the location for its proposed world-class driving course and driver training facility. The proposed location for the much-anticipated amenity is ½ mile north east of the city of Airdrie, AB.

“This is a perfect location given the proximity to an urban centre, the topography of the land which allows for a track design that is both environmentally sensitive and driver friendly and finally the fact there are very few residents around the proposed facility who will be directly impacted,” reported Dominic Young, RMP President and CEO.

According to Young, RMP was thankful for the opportunity to share their vision with RVC’s Planning and Priorities Committee today and look forward to working with the

County as the proposal moves through the process. “From the County perspective, we see this as a unique opportunity to incorporate a much needed facility not only for motor enthusiasts but for the community at large,” said Young. “The market for this road course and karting facility is unquestionable but beyond this core function we see a world of opportunity. With the additional features we have planned, this project is as much about safety, environment and community as it is about having a place to test the limits of your vehicle.”

In addition to a world-class European driving course of approximately 5 km, the facility will also include a one of a kind driving centre, Calgary Police Service training centre, skills pad, indoor/outdoor kart facility, Olds College research project to enhance wetlands and improve agriculture, auto oriented services, car condos and recreational facilities. RMP will continue to engage the community as it moves forward and plans to submit its application for land use re-designation in the near future.
