Northern Alberta Sports Car Club NASCC Racing and Events Statement:

April 25, 2020

Good morning Racers, Motorsports volunteers and enthusiasts the NASCC hopes you are all doing well, staying healthy and safe.

We have some disappointing, but not expected news to share with you today. The NASCC had always hoped to get some summer road racing in this year. We were constantly monitoring and adjusting our plans as the Covid virus situation evolved but announcements this past week have escalated quite quickly and it is time to update you all.

Earlier in the week we gave Castrol Raceway notice that we were cancelling our June 20/21 race weekend. We also had conversation with Castrol Raceway about measures that we and they could put in place to possibly hold events later in the year. It was evident that holding a LA1K Endurance Race on July 4th would also probably not be possible.

With the announcement by Dr Deena Hinshaw on Thursday that gatherings of over 15 people would not happen till after summer it also became evident that the Speedway Park Revival weekend in August would also not be possible. The announcement also put in doubt our ability to hold any race events this summer.

As it stands right now all NASCC race events and in person Business meetings are essentially canceled. We do hold out hope that if things improve greatly and the Government of Alberta adjusts their restrictions near the end of summer we potentially could hold race events in August and September. This would require us to adjust our procedures to ensure physical distancing.

We will keep you informed if anything changes, stay safe, follow restrictions, work on those fantastic race cars and we hope to see everyone soon.

NASCC Board of Directors.
