Era Motorsport to Sponsor Canadian Historic Championship
A prize pool will be created for the class’ podium finishers at each remaining round of the 2023 Canadian Rally Championship season for eligible classic and historic vehicles.
Indianapolis, IN (February 28, 2023) – Era Motorsport is excited to announce their sponsorship of the recently formed Canadian Classic Rally Championship, organized by the Canadian Association of Rally Sport (CARS).
The Era Motorsport Classic Rally Championship for the John Munroe Memorial Trophy is an overlay championship taking place at Canadian Rally Championship (CRC) rounds for the remainder of 2023.
Era Motorsport’s sponsorship of the Championship will provide, among other things, a purse for each event to be paid out to the Classic Rally Championship podium finishers.
“Honestly, helping put together a classic championship was kind of a no-brainer for me,” says Era Motorsport founder Kyle Tilley.
“Era Motorsport has a passion for historic rallying, and CARS made getting involved quite seamless. We were pretty much on the same page in terms of what we wanted to do.”
The Classic Championship will be available to all Open 2WD and Production 2WD cars competing in CRC events that have a manufacture date prior to December 1990, which also conform to a small set of specific rules as outlined by CARS https://carsrally.ca/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Bulletin-2023-03-Classic-Rally.pdf
“I know there’s already some fantastic historic cars competing up on the Canadian stages,” says Tilley, “hopefully this can add some incentive to increase those numbers, and allow those already competing to come out and have fun more often.”
The first round of the Era Motorsport Classic Rally Championship for the John Munroe Memorial Trophy will take place at Rocky Mountain Rally in Radium, B.C. on June 2- 4, 2023.
