NASCC Eurasia Cup Road Race weekend Five Awards Presented By Subway September 13 & 14 2014 final at Castrol Raceway.
39 Cars & about 20-25 volunteers for the Northern Alberta Sports Car Club (NASCC) in the Eurasia Cup for the final race weekend of 2014 at Castrol Raceway. Car 86 Gary Lohues GT3 won the feature race of Saturday September 13 King Of The Road. 2nd Place Car 36 Allen Brown GT3 followed by 3rd place Car 144 Justin Lewicke GTS. 4th Place Car 364 Mikel Brodie SM followed by 5th place Car 51 Jed Harrison CC. 6th Place Car 98 Gerard Tobin SM followed by 7th place Car 35 Robert Veroba SM. 8th Place Car 7 Chris Saunders SM followed by 9th place Car 44 Chris Semanciw SM. Lastly in the Top 10 was Car 18 Mark Burrough SM in 10th place.
The excitement in the King Of The Road race was when the last King Of The Road winner Car 73 Greg Lutomski a White Tube Frame 3rd generation RX7 GT2 class had a fire on lap 8 just past station 5. Canadian Motorsport Response Team (CMRT) was on hand to deal with it & most important the driver was OK. Greg Lutomski was doing well before as on lap 5 he got the Best lap time 01:24.481 & Top speed 115.055 Km/h. This was a good example of how volunteers make racing safe, so remember if you are not racing that the best seat is on a corner.
5 Minutes before the final race of 2014 at Castrol Raceway one car oiled most of the track. So all the corner workers & CMRT were on track cleaning up the track, AJ also jumped the wall, grabbed a broom and started sweeping. Which is another reason why AJ was named Driver of the Day/Weekend. The volunteers thanked AJ, for remembering his roots. They remembered the season when he was one of them.
Car 40 Dennis Goruk GTP1 won the Subway GT Race (the money race!). Dennis Goruk also had the Best lap time 01:25.440 & Top speed 113.764 Km/h on the lap 13. 2nd Place Car 36 Allen Brown GTP1 followed by 3rd place Car 144 Justin Lewicke GTP2 last car on the lead lap.
4th Place Car 98 Gerard Tobin GTP2 followed by 5th place Car 44 Chris Semanciw GTP2. 6th Place Car 35 Robert Veroba GTP2 followed by 7th place Car 14 Edouard Kassianoff GTP3. 8th Place Car 7 Chris Saunders GTP3 followed by 9th place Car 51 Jed Harrison GTP2. Lastly in the Top 10 was Car 10 Brooke Carter GTP3 in 10th place.
I asked Clerk of the Course Andy de Boon “how was the total weekend, was it good both days?“ Andy said “I would say both were really good“ With the road racing season over the next thing up is the 2014 Western Canada Motorsport Association (WCMA) Annual General Meeting, Convention and Awards Dinner.
