I remember one of my favorite oval events at Race City Motorsport Park, was the Big Rigs in June at the same time as the Oil show. There was always lots of exciting action & great racing when the Big Rigs was the show. If you get a chance to see them race, you will not be disappointed.
I had a chance to interview Isaac Harder the President of North American Big Rig Racing Truck # 36.
Velocity: “How many trucks are in the series?”
Isaac Harder: “12 in total”
Velocity: “12 Big Rigs that’s a lot of trucks”
Isaac Harder: “They say the ratio is 2 to 1 so it is pretty much 24 stock cars on the track”
Velocity asked: “So how many races do you have?”
Isaac Harder: “We have 7.

Velocity: “What races are you looking forward to? Las Vegas is your 1st race. Do you have a favorite track?”
Isaac Harder: “Well this is the 1st year that we race in Las Vegas & Salt Lake City. I can’t really speak for Vegas, but I am looking forward to Salt Lake City. They are set-up as almost a mirror image of what Race City used to be.”
Velocity: “So Race City was a good track for you?
Isaac Harder: “That was an awesome track, good banking, good everything and a fun set-up. They are pretty much doing the same thing at Salt Lake City that we used to do at Race City. They have a Big Truck Drag Racing Show & Shine Friday night. Our main event is on Saturday.”
Velocity: “Is Las Vegas a smaller oval track or is it the one NASCAR races on?”
Isaac Harder: “It is the same one NASCAR races on, but the Bullring I believe is just over 3/8s oval.
Velocity: “So with Vegas being a new track: you never know how things are going to go?
Isaac Harder: “It’s going to be a fun new track, I have never ran on it myself.”
Velocity: “Who was the champion from last year?
Isaac Harder: “Corry McMeakin in the # 91.
Velocity: “Any contender picks for this years championship?”
Isaac Harder: “#91 Corry McMeakin, # 58 Glen Creed, # 4 Darwin Berdahl & myself in #36.”
Velocity: “Is there anything that you are looking forward to?
Isaac Harder: “After all the tweaks a guy does over the 5 – 6 months being off; getting back into the seat is the biggest thing he looks forward to.
