Starting from 4th place Car 18 Alex Tagliani Epipen/Riobel/ComplexeJCP/Juste du Pin/Cantorque won the NASCAR Pinty’s Series race at Edmonton International Raceway for his 2nd Series win in a row. This win is Tagliani’s 3rd win of the 2016 & 2nd win on an oval. Once Tagliani took the lead on lap 88 he never looked back until the checkered flag wining with a Margin of Victory: 4.675 Seconds. 2nd Place Car 47 L.P. Dumoulin WeatherTech Canada/Bellemare Dodge, started from 5th place posted his 3rd straight 2nd place at EIR. 3. 2. Car 76 Cayden Lapcevich Fastline Motorsports Dodge, started from 2nd place was the highest finishing Rookie.

Like always this race event was worth the trip to EIR in Wetaskiwin Alberta, if you missed the race make sure you don’t miss it next year. The race weekend also included a full night of racing on Friday July 22 that Featured the NASCAR Super Stocks, Thunder Cars, Evolution Cupcar Series (Mini Cups), Feature Stocks & NASCAR Modifieds. The support races for the NASCAR Pinty’s Series were the EIR Stackers & the Evolution Cupcar Series (Mini Cups) that were fun to watch. Stackers are an interesting class where the Top car is mostly stripped except for safety equipment & a steering wheel. The Top driver does the steering while the driver Bottom driver does the gas & brake, no communication allowed between drivers. If you ever get a chance to see them they are always worth it, as I have never seen them NOT go at least 3 wide in a corner at some time in a race. The Stackers is also a class for brothers, the Savoie brothers race against each other in Car 37 & Car 95, the McGill brother raced together in Car 11. The Evolution Cupcar Series (Mini Cups) are quite the series for kids aged 8-16 years old. They actually put on a great show & it is great to see how much talent they have at such a young age. I also have to thank Loretta from EIR, as she asked me if I wanted to take some photos from a plane.
