Smith, from Huntington Beach, California, is the fifth different NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion from the state of California; joining Mike Skinner (1995 champion), Ron Hornaday Jr. (1996, 1998, 2007, 2009), Matt Crafton (2013, 2014, 2019) and Sheldon Creed (2020).
