Velocity: Is there anything to add to EIR article besides Saturday July 25?
Loretta: If we rain on Saturday (God forbid!) we are going to run at 12 noon on Sunday. I really want to get this race in. Then we start on August 1st for our 8 week revised season. The Pure Stocks numbers look excellent, really excited to see some of these new racers out.
Remind Racers to build their cars for the Race A Wreck 200 Lap Enduro scheduled for September 5th – this is going to be a very big race!
Edmonton International Raceway Statement:
Good evening Racers! This year has been a tough one to work with for sure! It’s been hard to plan and create processes that will work along with the Covid-19 Restrictions. It is very important that we try to schedule a race season this year and we will do the best we can!
Currently we can have 200 Fans in the Grandstands and the people in the pits must be set up to ensure 6 feet of social distancing between crews. If your crew members are someone that you typically hang out with (using the term “Cohort”) then you do not need to wear a mask. However a mask is mandatory if you cannot maintain a social distance of 6 feet from other people in the pits that you do not typically hang out with.
Fans will be limited to 200 at this time and they will not be allowed to come into the pits after the event. Tickets must be prepaid online so that we can ensure we don’t go over the 200 mark and this also eliminates line ups at the Front Gate or exchange of cash, etc. for payment. Unfortunately we cannot accept any complimentary tickets this year.
Racers must pre-register & pay for race day events by emailing Loretta at Speedway@syban.net. We have created an online waiver that can be completed once for the year. For NASCAR classes, I think we still have to sign the NASCAR Waiver for each event, however I will confirm this with them.
The Super Stocks, Thunder Cars & Pure Stocks will be sanctioned with NASCAR. A year end purse will be established by NASCAR and payouts will be based on finishes and the number of events you participate in.
Having said this, we are releasing our Revised 2020 Race Schedule and it is as follows:

Edmonton International Raceway (EIR) Volunteers
Volunteering is what makes events happen from the organizers of the event to the person taking your ticket; it takes a lot of people to make an event work. The best way to watch a race is to be in the race car, the 2nd best way is to be a volunteer.
