Open to the public. Some of the best amateur racing around!

The Northern Alberta Sports Car Club (NASCC) is starting another great season of Road Racing at Castrol Raceway. NASCC has multi car classes being ran at the same time, on Saturday the big race is the King of the Road for all closed wheel cars & Sunday the big races are the W.C.M.A points races. Castrol Raceway is in Nisku, Alberta with a Road Course Track Length 2.7000 km. Castrol Raceway, Canada’s Premier Motorsports Complex, annually hosts over 100 races including the nationally recognized events: NHRA Mopar Rocky Mountain Nationals, Hot August Night, and Monster Truck Throwdown. In addition to the ¼ mile NHRA Sanctioned Drag Strip, 3/8 mile Clay Oval Track and 10 acre Pro Motocross Track, a brand new 2.7 km FIA sanctioned Paved Road Course opened at the Raceway in 2013.

Spec Miata

Spec Miata was the fastest growing spec class in the 2016 NASCC Road Racing. The biggest difference in this class is driver skill & car set-up. If you are interested in racing contact the NASCC for more information.

Motorsports Volunteers

Race Volunteers make events happen-from the organizers of the event to the person taking your ticket; it takes a lot of people to make an event work. Road Racing Cars Volunteer Positions: Clerk of the Coarse, Steward, Starter, Chief Coarse Marshal, Corner Captain, Communicator, Yellow Flagger, Blue flagger, Safety, Pri-grid, Pit in & Pit out, Rescue personnel: Ambulance crew, Fireman & Clean-up Crew Tow Truck driver, Pace Car Driver, Timing personnel, Srutineer (Tech), Registration & Back Gate. Remember watching racing can fun but being part of the race is even better. So if you are not racing come-out and volunteer the second best way to watch a race, the best way is to be in the car.

My favorite way to volunteer is as a track-side marshal/corner worker. Road course marshals are race personnel that surround the road course track at specified stations that communicate to drivers with flags and each other on radios. These are a committed group of volunteers that with training and experience, can become qualified to work the big professional races like Indycar & Formula 1.
