Motorsport Race Marshals are race personnel that are responsible for the safety of the competitors and are stationed at various points of danger around the race track to assist in any collisions, accidents or track problems that may occur. They communicate to drivers with flags and each other using radios & hand signals.

Alberta Race Marshals (ARM) Statement:
Alberta Race Marshals (ARM) is a new non-profit organization of volunteers that share a passion for racing and will be working closely with the Canadian Motorsport Response Team (CMRT) to benefit from advanced and cross training support.

ARM will provide marshal services to the Northern Alberta Sports Car Club (NASCC)/Alberta Race Car Association (ARCA) and other organizations for their events as well as additional WCMA and ASN sanctioned road racing events around Alberta. The road racing season is May through October and ice racing season runs January through March.

The priority for ARM is safety at motorsport racing events for drivers, officials and spectators. This is ensured by a network of highly qualified and experienced volunteers who address security, medical, rescue, race control and many other functions.

Marshals enhance track safety by providing a communication link between other marshals, the Clerk of the Course, Race Control and the Drivers through the use of international standard flags, techniques and signals.

The ARM marshals are a committed group of volunteers that with training and experience, can become qualified to work the big professional races like IndyCar & Formula 1.

Alberta Race Marshals endeavors to develop its members and their skills to provide the road racing community in Alberta with highly qualified, experienced, motivated and well equipped marshals to assist in ensuring “Safety in Motorsports”. We have recognized the importance for the Marshals to be independent to build a more effective, reliable and energetic team. By supplying and maintaining their own equipment, they will be able to fulfill the needs of the organizers/promoters as well as those of the marshals to ensure safety for competitors, officials, and spectators. Our GoFundMe page is now live and we are reaching out to the racing community, family and friends for donations to support our new organization.

Fundraising Goal
In order to maintain volunteer and driver safety, we are reaching out to the motorsport and business communities for assistance. Money donated will go towards the purchase of communications and track safety equipment as well as other operational expenses.

ARM is planning to upgrade, replace and maintain aging track and operational equipment. They would also like to enhance the working environment for the volunteers by supplying safety clothes, supplies and accessories required to work trackside.

A few of our major purchases will include on-track transportation equipment such as a used pickup truck, trailer and passenger tram to provide enhanced safety for the volunteers, corner equipment, radios, flags and appreciation gatherings on race weekends for all volunteers.

If a company or individual prefers, they may choose to donate items in lieu of cash donations and have the option of adding their company logo. For an itemized equipment list, please contact Tracey at albertaracemarshals@shaw.ca for more information.

We look to and thank the Racing Community as well as the general public for supporting the volunteers in this exciting endeavour!!
