IMSA 2022 Season

International Motor Sports Association IMSA, is the premier sanctioning body for sports car competition in North America.

The International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) is a North American auto racing sanctioning body based in Daytona Beach, Florida, United States of America. It was started by John Bishop, a former executive director of SCCA (Sports Car Club of America), and his wife Peggy in 1969 with help from Bill France, Sr. of NASCAR. Beginning in 2014,[1] IMSA is the sanctioning body of the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, the premier series resulting from the merger of Grand-Am Road Racing and the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón.

Prototype (P): Prototype class features the fastest and most technologically advanced sports cars in North America, which are capable of speeds of 200 mph.

Prototype Challenge (PC): Prototype Challenge is a spec class featuring open top race cars and technology such as carbon fiber chassis, carbon brakes and a sequential gearbox.

GT Le Mans (GTLM): GT Le Mans machines are the most elite and fastest GT cars on the track, but are still based on production models. A true proving ground for leading manufacturers, GTLM cars are capable of speeds in excess of 180 mph.

GT Daytona (GTD): GT Daytona cars are the second fastest of the GT classes and are enhanced (not defined by) technology.
