EVOLUTION RACING MINI CUPS
Evolution CupCar Series are Mini Cup Cars that are 1/2 scale stock cars built just like the Sprint Cup cars you see on TV. It is a class specifically designed for youth’s ages 9 to 16, who could be the next Dale Earnhardt Jr. or Danica Patrick. This was an exciting race to watch with young drivers with so much skill, navigate around the track. It was like rush hour on HWY 2 as the leaders made their way through lapped traffic.
2015 Evolution CupCar Series Drivers & Parents
Car 10 Alex Krause won the Evolution Cups feature race at EIR. 2nd place Car 18 Tyler Emond. 3rd Place Car 44 Blake Hamilton.
4th Place Car 7 Travis Dolter followed by 5th place Car 28 Autumn Kopeck. 6th Place Car 84 Tyler Knowles followed by 7th place Car 77 Faith Luther. 8th Place Car 95 Rylee McKinnet followed by 9th place Car 1 Blaine Kopeck. Lastly in the Top 10 was Car 13 Kajun Fitzpatrick in 10th place.

Here is an interview with an Evolution CupCar Series Rookie Car 01 Douglas Voisey Jr., his mom April Voisey & his dad Baby Grand Car 44 Doug Voisey Senior. The Voisey family was at last year’s Arrive and Drive day at the Edmonton International Raceway. Douglas Voisey Jr. asked his parents many times for a mini cup, so for Christmas he got a Mini Cup Car.
Velocity: “So this is Douglas Voisey Jr. 1st year of racing Mini Cup?”
Doug Voisey Senior: “Yes”
Velocity: “And you used to race back in Newfoundland?’
Doug Voisey Senior: “Yes a Dirt Tracker, this is my 1st year racing up here as well”
Velocity: “Last year they did all the improvements, this is a beautiful track. My home track was Race City, now closed, if I heard a
horrible bang coming out of corner 2, meant I was on line.
Velocity: “Are you a fan of NASCAR?”
Douglas Voisey Jr.: “Dale Earnhardt Jr.”
Velocity: “What car number are you?
Douglas Voisey Jr.: “# 01”
Doug Voisey Senior: “The General Lee from Dukes of Hazzard”
Velocity: “What is your favorite part of racing?”
Douglas Voisey Jr.: “My favorite part is just driving.”

Other parts of Evolution CupCar Series Mini Cup Cars I like is that drivers can move up to the Baby Grands. Baby Grands are pretty similar Mini Cup Cars except a little larger with more horsepower. The other part is it allows parents to race the same day as their kids, which is done by more than one family like the Voisey family.
