Jordan Anderson Racing Bommarito Autosport Announces Competition Structure and Leadership for 2026 NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series Season

Statesville, NC (February 6, 2026) – Jordan Anderson Racing Bommarito Autosport today announced its competition leadership and organizational structure for the 2026 NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series season, building on intentional growth, technical partnerships, and a deep foundation of racing passion and expertise.
Returning as Competition Director, Shane Whitbeck will continue leading the No. 27, 31, and 32 teams into the 2026 season. A hands-on leader with his fingers on the pulse of the organization, Whitbeck has worked alongside team owners Jordan Anderson and John Bommarito since the end of the 2021 season and has been instrumental in building the foundation of what the team is today.
After stepping into the Competition Director role in 2025, Whitbeck has played a key role in shaping the team’s competitive direction, overseeing day-to-day race operations, and fostering a culture centered on accountability, passion, and people. His background as a former crew chief and racer brings a practical, driver-focused perspective that continues to elevate performance across all three entries.
Whitbeck’s responsibilities will include overseeing all aspects of competition operations, strengthening the team’s new technical alliance with Richard Childress Racing, and working closely with Chevrolet as Jordan Anderson Racing Bommarito Autosport continues to elevate its technical capabilities.
A core strength of the team’s competition leadership is its crew chief group, all of whom bring valuable experience not just from behind the pit box, but from behind the wheel as former drivers themselves. Together with Whitbeck, they embody the team’s passion for racing and competitive mindset moving forward.
Mark Setzer transitions to crew chief of the No. 32 Chevrolet lineup, which will include drivers Rajah Caruth, Ross Chastain, Jordan Anderson, and others to be announced. Setzer guided the team to a near victory at Talladega in 2025 and made a strong push toward the playoffs. With over 275 series starts as a crew chief with deep hands-on experience, Setzer’s leadership and communication is sharpened by a 2001 Hickory Motor Speedway (NC) track championship as a driver.
Cody McKenzie returns as crew chief of the No. 31 Chevrolet with Blaine Perkins. Known for his engineering-first approach, McKenzie brings a strong technical background, including previous race engineering roles at Big Machine Racing and Richard Childress Racing, a B.S. in Physics from Francis Marion University, and an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Clemson University. His focus on data, simulation, and engineering development will support the team’s expanding simulation and technical efforts with Chevrolet.
JC Umscheid joins the organization as crew chief of the No. 27 Chevrolet and driver Jeb Burton. After a decade of experience in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series with championship-caliber teams like TRICON Garage and GMS Racing, JC brings a competitive edge and clear focus to the program. His recent achievement as crew chief of a Snowball Derby-winning effort just over a year ago with driver Kaden Honeycutt highlights his capability to lead and inspire at high-profile events.
Together, this leadership team blends hands-on racing experience with technical knowledge and strategic vision, positioning Jordan Anderson Racing Bommarito Autosport for competitive success in 2026.
“We’ve built something unique here – a structure that respects the history of racing while pushing us toward our future goals,” said Jordan Anderson, Owner.
“These guys have lived this sport – as drivers, as engineers, as leaders – and that experience is going to be a big part of how we continue to improve.”
Additional details on driver lineups, sponsor partners, and upcoming team initiatives for 2026 will be released in the coming weeks.
