The end of the 2018 Northern Alberta Sports Car Club (NASCC) Ice Racing season was at the Western Canadian Ice Race Championship at Lac La Biche Winter Festival of Speed. The WCMA Sanctioned Event was held February 24 & 25 with multi car classes. NASCC has different race classes to choose from, for almost any car with safety equipment. One of the biggest difference in these classes are tires, Studded & Non-Studded (Rubber to Ice). Ice racing cars are one of the most cost-effective types of racing around with tons of fun wheel to wheel racing. This is one of my favorite Canadian annual racing events held in conjunction with the La Biche Winter Festival of Speed also includes snowmobile drag racing & Motorcycle Ice Racing. Added events are a fly in Rally (Snowmobile), La Biche Flying Club Ice Fly-In & Horse Sleigh Rally & Rides.

It was a full season of NASCC Ice Racing with 5 events of racing & the finals at the 2018 La Biche Winter Festival of Speed. With the Ice Racing season being over for another year the Northern Alberta Sports Car Club (NASCC) will now be getting ready for the 2018 Road Race Season at Castrol Raceway, Nisku.

ICE RACE MARSHALLING
Ice racing marshals are the Diehards of Motorsport marshalling!
The best way to watch a race is to be in the car. The second-best way to watch is to be a trackside marshal. If you are interested in racing but not sure about driving yourself, being a marshal might be for you. Ice Racing Marshals are there for emergencies and to communicate with racers with flags and to communicate regarding the race with others via radio. There there is many other volunteer jobs required to run a race. Non-trackside race positions: timing, pre-grid Pit in & Pit out, Tech, track set-up & clean-up.
