Mercedes Finishes 1st & 2nd Again in The Monaco Grand Prix

Mercedes finishes 1st & 2nd again in the Monaco Grand Prix but this time Nico Rosberg wins his 2nd race of the year.

Car 6 Nico Rosberg Mercedes wins the Monaco Grand Prix. That makes it the first six F-1 races in a row for Mercedes.

This time Nico Rosberg started on pole and by winning the race, put himself back in the lead for the driver’s championship over his team mate Lewis Hamilton. This makes it back-to-back for Nico Rosberg wins at the Monaco Grand Prix as he won last year.

2nd Place Car 44 Lewis Hamilton Mercedes (with dirt in his eye) had to hold off 3rd place.

Car 3 Daniel Ricciardo Red Bull Racing-Renault for a close finish.

In 4th place came Car 14 Fernando Alonso Ferrari, followed by Car 27 Nico Hulkenberg Force India-Mercedes in 5th place.

6th place was held by Car 22 Jenson Button McLaren-Mercedes, followed by Car 19 Felipe Massa.

Williams-Mercedes was 7th place winner.

Car 8 Romain Grosjean Lotus-Renault came in 8th,  followed by Car 17 Jules Bianchi Marussia-Ferrari in 9th place.

Last in the points was Car 20 Kevin Magnussen McLaren-Mercedes in 10th place.

This was a race with a lot of nutrition where only 14 of 21 cars finished the race.

At the podium

Nico Rosberg said “A very, very special day for sure. Lewis drove really, really well and pushed me massively hard, so the pressure was on all the way. But I kept it cool and, yeah, was able to win, in the end pulling a bit of a gap because I had the fresher tyres. So, fantastic and I’m very, very happy for the whole team, it’s an amazing car they’ve built and given us this year.”

Hamilton was asked “Tell us a little bit about what happened on the 56th lap? You got something in your eye?” Lewis Hamilton said “Yeah, just through the visor… but anyway that’s not important. It was a good day and really good for the team to get a one-two.”

Hamilton was asked “You had [Daniel Ricciardo] right close behind. How was it? You started second and finished second… How are things with your team mate, I think people want to know? Lewis Hamilton said “I had great pace, you know, obviously I felt I was very strong today but it’s a very, very difficult circuit to overtake on”

Ricciardo was asked “Tell us a little bit about your race. You were in third for a while, then the pit stops, tell us a little about your strategy. Daniel Ricciardo said “Firstly, it’s really nice to be up here on the podium in Monaco.”

Ricciardo was asked “It’s your first podium here isn’t it? Congratulations.
Daniel Ricciardo said “Yeah, thank you. The start was not great, I dropped back to fifth actually. A bit of frustration but then we saw Vettel had a problem, so we were able to get fourth and then we saw Raikkonen had a puncture on one of the safety cars. So we sort of inherited third after a poor start.”
