IHRA MOPAR Rocky Mountain Nitro Jam Nationals
Canada’s Biggest and Best drag racing event returns to Edmonton’s Castrol Raceway THIS WEEKEND JULY 15-17!
July 13, 2016 – (Nisku, AB.) – THE NITRO’S ARE COMING! Feel the burn of 3000 horsepower nitro burning cars and top fuel dragsters, plus Parts Canada nitro bikes, jet cars and trucks – an outstanding 300 cars total will be racing at Castrol Raceway for Canada’s biggest drag racing event this weekend at the IHRA MOPAR Rocky Mountain Nationals presented by Good Vibrations Motorsports.
Race fans, families and adrenaline junkies will experience all the nitro-powered mayhem that makes up the IHRA Drag Racing series. And that’s just during the day! The Friday and Saturday evening races, known as Night of Fire, will feature Pro Qualifying as well as the incredible fire of the dual jet powered truck, and jet funny cars: Secret Weapon and Mater.
Top Fuel Dragsters, Pro Mods, Top Sportsman, Top Dragster, Super Stock, Stock, Quick Rod, Super Rod, Hot Rod, Junior Dragsters and local bracket competitors will all be competing at this year’s event, as will the largest AMSOIL Nitro Funny car in history compete at Castrol Raceway.
Gates open at 9am each day with qualifying starting at 4:30pm Friday, and 9am Saturday and Sunday.
Pre-Race Ceremonies are scheduled to take place as follows:
Friday, July 15: 6:50pm
Saturday, July 16: 5:50pm
Sunday, July 17: 11:20am

Castrol Raceway, Canada’s Premier Motorsports Complex, annually hosts over 100 races including the nationally recognized events: IHRA MOPAR Rocky Mountain Nitro Jam Nationals, Hot August Night, and Monster Truck Throwdown. In addition to the ¼ mile IHRA Sanctioned Drag Strip, 3/8 mile Clay Oval Track and 10 acre Pro Motocross Track, a brand new 2.7 km FIA sanctioned Paved Road Course opened at the Raceway in 2013.
