Carl Edwards won the rain soaked Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway. A long rain delayed race with 3 laps left cautions lights came on with the largest rain fall of the night made it the end of the race. NASCAR Vice President of Competition and Racing Development Robin Pemberton stated the race finished under caution due to a light malfunction, which was attributed to human error. “In the flag stand, it appears one of the flag people had leaned on the switch that is the manual override for the caution lights,” Pemberton said. “When the flag stand realized this, the flagman threw the caution flag (six seconds later). After that happened, we froze the field from the tower.”

Staying out, was the right gamble for Car 99 Carl Edwards instead of coming in the pits for fresh tires as they only had 17 laps on their tires. Car 18 Kyle Busch Skittles Toyota was not able to sweep the weekend as he had a tire problem, which caused his spin.
