2014 Champion Chris Sun

This race was sold out day on booking deadline, but some racers had to back out at the very last moment, so we did not have Robb Leece, Todd Christiansen & David Christiansen.

One thing we found when we got on the track for the practice was they changed the track again. This time it was a technical 8 turn course with 1 front straight which put everyone on a even playing field. There were cautions in each session of the evening as the course is very tight and tougher to manage with all karts on track.

Practice was a work out with more twisty bits than the last race needless to say it was nice to have a break in between track sessions. Chris Sun led practice followed by Paul Lamoureux with Richard Bonham in 3rd place. Blair Snow was in 4th place followed by Rory Nagassar in 5th place, Michael Webber was in 6th place followed by Darren Leece in 7th, Doug Chandler was in 8th followed by Darren Henry was in 9th place followed by Chris Paavola in 10th place.

There were 2 cautions with everyone getting into the groove.

Qualifying was lead by Paul Lamoureux followed by Chris Sun in 2nd place. Richard Bonham was in 3rd place followed by Blair Snow in 4th, Michael Webber was in 5th place followed by Rory Nagassar in 6th place, Darren Leece was in 7th place followed by Chris Paavola in 8th place, Doug Chandler was in 9th place followed by Darren Henry in 10th place.

There was also with 2 cautions with quite a bit of rubbing & bumping as everyone navigating the track.

Just before the final race Speeders General Manager Jason said he liked our series & how we handle the karts with-out damaging the karts or track. So with that in mind he was looking at VMN Indoor Kart Series racers & found only 2 racers were Pro Speed rated which was Chris Sun & Richard Bonham. Then he said, to thank us for our series he bought us a Pro Speed rated race that would be added to our profiles to allow us to run at Pro Speed for our series in the new season. We were given the option before our race, or after our race & series trophy presentations. We elected to do it after the trophies.

The way the qualifying was (and it was the last race) we were expecting lots of cautions & contact in the final. There was contact but only 1 caution with a couple laps in. I screwed up coming into corner 5, going too fast in and ended up bumping & spinning Darren Henry (after the race I apologized as not my intention).

Next part we have to work on improving in the new season is our grid starts should change with keeping formation before the green. Because of some karts were delayed in the pits, the grid was messed up in the back and started incorrectly with some karts jumping positions before the green flag. So we can fix it in the future by keeping formation until green regardless if pace kart is in the pits.

Paul Lamoureux won the final race with Chris Sun in 2nd place, followed by Rory Nagassar in his 1st podium finish in 3rd place.

Richard Bonham was in 4th followed by place Blair Snow in 5th, Michael Webber was in 6th place followed by Darren Leece in 7th place, Doug Chandler was in 8th place who was racing with a sore back, Chris Paavola was in 9th place followed by Darren Henry in 10th place.

Chris Sun won the 2013-2014 VMN Indoor Kart Series Championship as he had a 100 point lead coming into the final race. All he had to do was finish Qualifying and the Race.

Doug Chandler was in 2nd place followed by Darren Leece in 3rd place. Paul Lamoureux was in 4th place followed by Blair Snow, Darren Henry was in 5th place followed by Chris Paavola in 6th place, Robb Leece was in 7th place followed by Rory Nagassar in 9th place, David Christiansen was in 10th place, Richard Bonham was in 11th place followed by Michael Webber in 12th place.

The award for best team goes to: Legend-wait for it – Darren. They were not able to be at The Black Bull Pub for presentation.

14 Lap Pro Speed race was more like one of one of our qualifying sessions with only 1 caution on the 1st lap. The difference with more speed is a about 1-2 seconds on your time but you have to use your brakes to make the corners. This session was lead by Richard Bonham followed by Paul Lamoureux in 2nd place, Chris Sun was in 3rd place followed by Rory Nagassar in 4th place, Michael Webber was in 5th place followed by Blair Snow in 6th place, Doug Chandler was in 7th place followed by Darren Leece in 8th place, Chris Paavola was in 9th place followed by Darren Henry in 10th place.
