Starting from 5th place Car 22 Joey Logano Shell Pennzoil Ford won the 57th Annual Daytona 500, his 9th win in 221 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races. This is Logano’s 1st win & 1st Top 10 finish in 2015. This is his 1st win & 4th Top 10 finish in 14 races at Daytona International Speedway. This is Team Penske and car owner Roger Penske’s 2nd Daytona 500 win, his 1st was in 2008 with driver Ryan Newman. Joey Logano is the 2nd youngest driver in series history to win the Daytona 500 at the age of 24 years, 8 months, 29 days. The youngest driver to win the Daytona 500 is Trevor Bayne at the age of 20 years, 0 months, 1 day. Joey Logano leads the point standings by 5 points over Kevin Harvick.

The race was exciting at the end, as it looked like anyone could have won until the caution came out. From lap 182 is was go time with 16 straight laps of close-quarters, three-wide racing that saw the lead change from one lap to the next, as one line or another would inch ahead.

Regan Smith finished 16th in the Car 41 Stewart-Haas Racing Chevrolet in relief of suspended driver Kurt Busch. Matt Crafton finished 19th as an 11th-hour substitute in the No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota, after driver Kyle Busch was sidelined with a broken leg in Saturday’s XFINITY Series race. A blown engine relegated 2012 series champion Brad Keselowski to a 41st-place finish. Danica Patrick ran 21st in her fourth Daytona 500 start.
