Rookie Gary Klutt won the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series season opening race at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park

Starting from pole Car 59 Gary Klutt CTL Corp/Legendary Motorcar Chevrolet took advantage of the leaders contact to win the Pinty’s presents the Clarington 200. Saturday Klutt also won his 1st NASCAR Canadian Tire Series career pole award during qualifying on Saturday. 2nd Place Car 76 Jeff Lapcevich Tim Hortons Dodge started from 6th place. 3rd place Car 04 J.F. Dumoulin Bernier Crepeau Chrysler/Bellemare Dodge started from 13th place.

4th Place Car 17 D.J. Kennington Castrol Edge/Mahindra Tractors Dodge started from 7th place followed by 5th place Car 22 Scott Steckly Canadian Tire Dodge started from 3rd place. 6th Place Car 47 L.P. Dumoulin WeatherTech Canada/Bellemare Dodge started from 4th place followed by 7th place Car 3 Jason Hathaway Fast Eddie/Choko/HGC Chevrolet started from 10th place. 8th Place Car 18 Pier-Luc Ouellette EpiPen/CGI/CanTorque Chevrolet started from 9th place followed by 9th place Car 27 Andrew Ranger Mopar/Pennzoil/Exide Dodge started from 2nd place. Lastly in the Top 10 was Car 8 Kevin Poitras TSC Stores Ford in 10th place, started from 17th place.

The race had 3 Caution Flags for 8 laps: 1st Caution on Laps 31-34 for Car 99 Marc-Antoine Camirand * Grafoid/Braille Battery Chevrolet stopped on track. 2nd Caution on 39-40 for Debris on track. 3rd Caution on 43-44 for Car Car 69 Trevor Seibert Lake Excavating/Area 27 Chevrolet spin in turn 8.

Rookie Car 59 Gary Klutt CTL Corp/Legendary Motorcar Chevrolet was in the right place at the right time. On the last lap Car 22 Scott Steckly Canadian Tire Dodge & Car 27 Andrew Ranger Mopar/Pennzoil/Exide Dodge were had contact with each other in corners 9 & 10 giving Gary Klutt the win.

16th Place Rookie Car 87 Erica Thiering RaceCarByAva/CBRT Ford started from 26th place had a great result considering it was her 1st road race.
