NASCC Road Race School, The Leduc Alberta 1000 & MyLaps Transponders

The summer Road Race season is approaching, and there is a lot to offer this year.

NASCC Road Race School

Road Race School registration is now open for the May 2 & 3 WCMA Race License School, put on by the NASCC.  The entry fee is $630 including GST.  Please spread the word!  Registration is found at  http://nascc.ab.ca/event-registration/

The Leduc Alberta 1000

The Leduc Alberta 1000, sponsored by the VLT Operators Leduc/Nisku, and the City and County of Leduc, will be held on July 26.  This the inaugural version of an annual event; a 1000 km road race, held at Castrol Raceway.  Entry fees are $630 (with GST) for a team of three drivers, and additional drivers may be added at $105 each. Registration opens at noon Sunday, March 2.  Only 50 teams can enter, so get in early! Drivers must hold a valid WCMA license, or a license from other organizations that is accepted by the WCMA.  So don’t neglect the school.  If there is enough interest we will also offer a practice and race school day, for racers only, on July 25.  Check out the website, which will get better over time, at www.LA1K.ca

The summer road course season schedule has been posted for some time, but just so you have it in your hot little hands, it is given below.  The Motorsportreg site will be used for advance registration, and registrations will open in mid to late March. We will have an early bird fee that is $40 off the regular rate, details to follow at a later date.  Link to registration is again http://nascc.ab.ca/event-registration/

MyLaps Transponders

Action item:   Deadline to place your pre-order is March 4, 10 pm – go to Event Registration page on NASCC website.

As announced a while ago, we will be switching to the MyLaps timing system this summer road race season. Each of you will gain the many advantages of live timing streaming, rapid posting of your lap times, etc, that is associated with MyLaps, if you own your own transponder. The old dBComm system is NOT COMPATIBLE, so if you are racing you MUST HAVE A MyLaps/AMB transponder to race.

The transponders can be purchased from various sources, including the web order race houses in the US, or MyLaps directly, at a cost of about US $480.  The NASCC will be making a bulk purchase order next week, and those who get in on it will receive a 10 % discount on the retail price.  Those of you who have looked will know that you can not pick these things up used for a bargain price.

Write nascc.events@gmail.com for more info.
