Car 11 Denny Hamlin FedEx Ground Toyota won the Coors Light Pole Award for the 33rd Annual Pocono 400 with a track qualifying record lap of 49.610 seconds, 181.415 mph. This is Hamlin’s 19th pole in 304 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races & is his second pole and eighth top-10 start in 2014. His first pole this season came at Bristol. This is his third pole in 17 races at Pocono Raceway. Hamlin’s previous two Pocono poles came in his rookie season of 2006. Both resulted in victories. He has four victories overall at Pocono.
Car 41 Kurt Busch Haas Automation Chevrolet with a time of 49.612 & speed of 181.408 (second) posted his fifth top-10 start of 2014 and his 17th in 26 races at Pocono Raceway. Car 2 Brad Keselowski Redd’s Ford with a time of 49.637 & speed of 181.316 (third) posted his second top-10 start at Pocono Raceway. It is his 11th in 14 races this season. This also the 1st time since Talladega that a Penske car is not on the front row. 4th place Car 4 Kevin Harvick Budweiser Chevrolet with a time of 49.770 & speed of 180.832, 5th place Car 24 Jeff Gordon Drive to End Hunger Chevrolet with a time of 49.858 & speed of 180.513, 6th place Car 18 Kyle Busch M&M’s Peanut Butter Toyota with a time of 49.873 & speed of 180.458, 7th place Car 22 Joey Logano Shell Pennzoil Ford with a time of 50.048 & speed of 179.827, 8th place Car 88 Dale Earnhardt Jr. National Guard Chevrolet with a time of 50.121 & speed of 179.565, 9th place Car 55 Brian Vickers Aaron’s Dream Machine Toyota with a time of 50.126 & speed of 179.548
