I thought I was a motorsport die-hard, I then I interviewed Mike Elhard.
Mike Elhard Vice-president Northern Alberta Sports Car Club (NASCC) & Edmonton Rally Club (ERC), Mike started motorsport in 2001 when he was tired of getting hurt on mountain bike. Claimer, Rally & Road racing Mike has done lots of racing and has traveled extensively with lemons & Chumpcar.
Our interview was on the up the coming winter racing:
Ice racing:
- Take school: January 17 & 18, 2014 Winter Driving & Ice Racing School. http://nascc.ab.ca/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/Winter-School-101.pdf
- Entry level classes: chevetes & neons spec classes with no modicfications except for saftety equipment.
- Classes: Limted stud, Unlimed Stud, Rubber (winter tires), chevetes & neons spec classes.
- Safety Equipement: Snell 2005 SA helmet
Safety 6 point roll cage, double door bar, Personal nomex coveralls

Expect to have good fields of cars to have great wheel to wheel racing.
I asked him what is good about Ice racing and he said “It makes winter go by quick when you live in this climate you might as well race”
Also in the Edmonton area the Edmonton Rally Club hosts rally cross events on the same track that are worth checking out.
