Badlands Motorsports Resort Statement:
BMR Begins Last Lap for Approval
May 18, 2016 by Badlands Motorsports Resort
After a long delay, the Badlands Motorsports Resort comprehensive site development plan, and formal applications for subdivision have been filed with Kneehill County. Our $400 million dollar project may finally begin this year.
This, the largest tourism development currently proposed for Alberta, will feature a destination resort and two European-style road courses set on a 525 acre property in Kneehill county approximately 100km from Calgary. Road course and track areas will be focused on recreational driving, grassroots level competition, and driver education and training, and the facility as a whole will incorporate a wide variety of other services and amenities enjoyable by both members and the public. A clubhouse, retail areas and
hotel, residences, parks and sports facilities will give families and visitors of all ages, opportunities to enjoy the area.
The first phase of development will include the road courses, totalling 10km in length, as well as a multi-purpose building which will serve as the primary centre for operations with administration offices, meeting rooms, locker facilities, food & retail services and a vehicle compliance/inspection garage. Later phases will incorporate residential developments and clubhouse and hotel properties.
Kneehill County is currently reviewing our formal applications for subdivision with supporting documents that include a Traffic Impact Assessment, Road Access Design, Environmental Impact Assessment as well as archaeological studies and engineering plans. After more than a decade of refining our vision and plan, it is exciting to be on what feels like the last lap for approval.
