The 20th Roy Ross Memorial was a great race in front of a full crowd at Edmonton International Raceway. Car 12 Chad Malone had pole from the start & held onto the lead for quite a while. Going into the race Car 90 BJ Clark was the favorite to win, but had to pit to change a flat tire. Car 51 Greg Pringle passed Car 12 Chad Malone for the lead & kept it until he spun. Justin Mctavish took over the lead after Car 51 Greg Pringle spun & stayed in front until the checkered flag. A lot of racers thanked Todd RC Ross for all the hard work he put into making the race a great event.

Interview with IMCA Car 14 Justin Mctavish Winner of the 20th Roy Ross Memorial
Velocity: Congratulations on winning the 20th Roy Ross Memorial, what does this mean to you?
Justin Mctavish: It’s pretty surreal at the moment, I don’t know if it has actually kicked in yet that I won. This is the 20th run of it, my dad won the 1st one & none of us have been able to since then, so it is pretty important that way. This year my Grandfather passed away, so this race was in honour of him, it is a pretty important family event for us.
Velocity: How long have you been racing IMCA?
Justin Mctavish: This is my 9th year.
Velocity: This has always been the biggest race?
Justin Mctavish: Yes
Velocity: So Car 51 spun then after that is was your race; you were able to stay in front the checkered flag.
Justin Mctavish: It is pretty amazing with how many fast cars are here, I got lucky because BJ got a flat tire, his car is super fast & then Greg spun out all by himself. That just put me in a great position to take it over, all I had to do is not mess up.
Velocity: You had the best drivers in Western Canada you beat tonight & now you gotta try & win it again next year.
Justin Mctavish: That is the goal but right now I am going to concentrate on this one for now.
Velocity: Congratulations, thanks for your time it was a great race.

Statement from Edmonton International Raceway
Race Fan Injured in Vehicle/Pedestrian Accident last Saturday Night
Bree Gwynn (age 21) and her son Austin (age 2) were hit by a pick up truck this past Saturday Night, August 13th while crossing the road to the overflow parking area at the track. The initial report has it that the injuries are serious and include broken bones and severe bruising. Fortunately a full recovery is expected though that recovery may take some time. Bree is the daughter of Steve & Rochelle Gwynn (Steve is the NASCAR Modified #33 Racer). It is too early to speculate about causes and the police investigation is ongoing, what is not too early is the need for financial support for Bree and her son. Any such disruption in life as what happened last Saturday Night has consequences, some that can be very expensive. Therefore, during this upcoming race night, August 20th we will be collecting donations at the race track to support Bree and her son. We hope that the racers, fans, volunteers will dig deep and show overwhelming support. We all hope that this heart felt support will somehow reduce the pain and suffering that Bree is going through at this time and that it will remove some of the financial worries so that Bree can concentrate on the number one job at hand…..her and her son’s recovery.
Thank you everyone in advance, we’ll see you all on Saturday, August 20th.
