Joey Logano swept the Chase’s Contender Round by winning at Talladega Superspeedway. The difference with this win is he beat the most popular Car 88 Dale Earnhardt Jr. driver by inches & knocked him out of the chase. You could hear the boos, as the field took the checkered flag under caution. NASCAR called for the 3rd Caution just as the 1st attempt at a green-white-checkered-flag restart on Lap 195. Logano was ahead by inches which gave him the win as the caution came out.

Eliminator Round of the Chase: Car 22 Joey Logano Shell Pennzoil Ford, Car 19 Carl Edwards Subway Toyota, Car 24 Jeff Gordon 3M Chevrolet, Car 41 Kurt Busch Haas Automation Chevrolet, Car 2 Brad Keselowski Miller Lite Ford, Car 78 Martin Truex Jr. Furniture Row/Visser Precision Chevrolet, Car 4 Kevin Harvick Budweiser/Jimmy John’s Chevrolet & Car 18 Kyle Busch M&M’s Halloween Toyota.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. showed class as his answer to losing the race. “Everybody is going to ask me a hundred times how I feel about the green-white-checkered rule now,” Earnhardt said. “I feel good about it. It was a good safe call. The race ended per the rules, and I’m totally OK with that. “They decided officially who won the race, and Joey won it. He has had an awesome round. Unbelievable, really. We did everything we could today. Almost perfect, tried really hard.”

Car 4 Kevin Harvick Budweiser/Jimmy John’s Chevrolet was accused of causing the crash at the end of the race to stay in the chase. Some people may it believe after the Michael Waltrip Racing incident years ago, so NASCAR had to investigate.
