Jessi Combs was killed doing a Land-Speed Record Attempt in a Jet Car at Alvord Desert

Jessi Combs was a vehicle builder, racer, fabricator, TV personality, and a leader in the automotive world. She died Tuesday August 27, 2019 (aged 39) while attempting to break her own land-speed record of 398 mph.

On October 9, 2013, Combs drove the North American Eagle (NaE) Supersonic Speed Challenger at the Alvord desert, claiming the women’s 4-wheel land speed record with an official run of 398.954 mph

So sad to hear of Jessi’s passing, I will miss her and so will our industry. She attacked all her projects with a smile and 110% passion. She chased her dream to be the fastest and she was.

Remembering the better times and sharing this picture of the first time I met her as a WyoTech student from our Season 1 Overhaulin build.

Jessi Combs posted on Instagram days before the crash. “It may seem a little crazy to walk directly into the line of fire… those who are willing, are those who achieve great things… People say I’m crazy. I say thank you,” she wrote in the caption.
