J.R. Fitzpatrick Wins Season Opener Pinty’s presents the Clarington 200 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park

Car 84 J.R. Fitzpatrick Equipment Express Chevrolet wins season opener Opener Pinty’s presents the Clarington 200 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville Ont. This is his 9th career series win & 2nd win at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park the 2.459-mile road course in Bowmanville Ont with Margin of Victory: 0.319 Seconds. The key to the race was with Fitzpatrick being able to get a good jump on the restarts to keep the lead.

2nd Place Car 76 Jeff Lapcevich Tim Hortons Dodge started in 3rd place, Lapcevich put some pressure on Fitzpatrick but was not able to pass, this was his 3rd Top 5 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park & 13th overall in the series. 3rd Place Car 66 Robin Buck Quaker State Dodge started in 7th place, followed by 4th place Car 47 L.P. Dumoulin WeatherTech Canada/Bellemare Dodge started in 5th place. 5th Place Car 17 D.J. Car 27 Andrew Ranger Mopar/Exide Dodge won his 13th career series pole award but was sent to the back of the field due to unapproved impound adjustments. The 2-time series champion worked his way up to the Top 10 but had ignition problems and only finished in 21st place. That is too bad because sometimes you could call Andrew Ranger a bump to pass driver.
