Evolution CupCar Series August 3, 2015 Statement:
Happy Heritage Day Long Weekend Monday to all of our Evolution CupCar Series friends, families and fans. We had a 2 day show at Edmonton International Raceway on Saturday and Sunday, and the kids put on a tremendous show.
Both race nights provided a few firsts for some of our racers. On night one, after a few races where he just about scored the win, Tyler Emond broke through and scored the feature race win! Congrats to the Emond Racing team, that win has been a long time coming. Also on night one, Brady Pylypiuk (in his first ever Evolution race) scored a fantastic heat race win! Great job Brady!
On night two, 2 more racers scored heat race wins that were a long time in the making. Blaine Kopeck got his first in the ever tough Heat 2a group (made up of the top 4 from each of the first heats) by running a tremendous line and holding off some very tough racers. Well done Blaine!!!
Kaylee Wilkie also got her first heat race win on night two, holding off some hungry racers, and taking the win by a good margin. Fantastic work Kaylee!!!!
Being in this series as long as some of us have, seeing the smile on these kids faces after they have won any race is extremely contagious, and is the look of pure happiness. On the other end of things though, after a hard crash on night one, Rylee McKennitt was taken to see a doctor, and was not able to complete on night 2 as per doctor’s orders. Being the racer she is, full of heart, Rylee was very upset but understood. She’ll be checked out again this week, and hopefully we’ll see her in Medicine Hat this weekend.
As mentioned, Medicine Hat is next weekend with a tremendous points battle between the #2 of Patrick Labrash, and the #10 of Alex Krause shaping up again. With only 1 point between them, it looks like this battle will go down to the last race of the year. Come on out and watch these kids put on a show!
