3. Red Flag
Red Flag for a crash in corner 4 between Matteo Malucelli Car 62 Risi Competizione was going slow & was hit from behind by Memo Gidley Car 99 GAINSCO.
It was thought one cause could have been Memo Gidley was blinded by the sun.
Recue on scene within 49 seconds of crash.

After Red flag field is under yellow getting ready for the re-start.

Green flag re-starts race at lap 100, booth drivers involved in crash on that causes a red flag were transported to hospital.

After an other caution ,the green flag re-starts at 7:31 p.m. to resume the event.
Caution out again for debris at 8:04 p.m..

IMSA Statement:
“Memo: Gidley, driver of the No. 99 GAINSCO / Bob Stallings Racing Corvette DP, underwent surgical procedures on both his left arm and left leg at Halifax Health in Daytona Beach, Florida. Gidley also has an unstable fracture in his back which will require additional surgery before he can be released from the hospital. He continues to be evaluated.
Matteo Malucelli, driver of the No. 62 Risi Competizione Ferrari 458 Italia, remained at Halifax Health overnight for further evaluation. He continues to rest comfortably. An update on his condition will be provided later today.”
