Car # 3 Chevrolet will be on poll for NASCAR Sprint Cup Series 56th Daytona 500 race Sunday February 23, 2014 with Austin Dillon driving the car.
2014 Coors Light Pole winner Austin Dillon Car 3 Chevrolet, DOW with a time of 45.914 and with a speed of 196.019 mph. This will be the 1st time car 3 will appear in the series since Dale Earnhardt was killed after a last-lap crash at the 2001 Daytona 500.
Second-place qualifier was Martin Truex Jr Car 78 Chevrolet, Furniture Row with a time of 45.953 and with a speed of 195.852 both drivers will be on the front row for the Great American Race.
Both cars: Austin Dillon Car 3 Chevrolet, DOW & Martin Truex Jr Car 78 Chevrolet, Furniture Row Childress Racing engines under the hood. This was the best birthday present for chief engine builder Danny Lawrence.
Austin stated one of the best parts was seeing the fist pump from his Grandfather Richard Childress. If ever there was a way to honour Dale Earnhardt this would be it.
Except for Car 3 & Car 78 the rest of the field will be in the Thursday February 20, 2014 night’s Budweiser Duel at Daytona 150-lap qualifying races for starting positions in 56th Daytona 500 race Sunday February 23, 2014.
