Dale Earnhardt Jr Eliminated From The Chase But Does Win 66th Annual Goody’s Headache Relief Shot 500 at Martinsville Speedway

Starting from 23rd place Car 88 Dale Earnhardt Jr. National Guard Chevrolet won the 66th Annual Goody’s Headache Relief Shot 500 at Martinsville Speedway. This is his 23rd win in 538 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race. This also his 4th win & 18th Top 10 finish in 2014 where as 2004 was Earnhardt’s best year when he won 6 races. 2nd Place Car 24 Jeff Gordon Drive To End Hunger Chevrolet starting from 13th place posted his 35th Top 10 finish in 44 races at Martinsville Speedway. It is his 21st Top 10 finish in 2014 & Jeff Gordon leads the point standings by 3 points over Ryan Newman.

Before the final restart Rick Hendrick was asked if there was team orders between Dale Earnhardt Jr. & Jeff Gordon. Dale Earnhardt Jr. was able to steel the win away from Chase contender Hendrick Motorsports team mate Car 24 Jeff Gordon Drive To End Hunger Chevrolet. It was an emotional win for Hendrick Motorsports as memories of the tragic Hendrick Motorsports plane crash from 10 years ago that claimed 10 lives, including Rick Hendrick’s son Ricky. The win gave Earnhardt his 1st grandfather clock trophy from Martinsville.
