June 29, 2017 – (Nisku, AB.) – You’re invited to celebrate Canada’s 150th Birthday this weekend at Castrol Raceway!
THURSDAY, June 29
SPEC-D DRIFT PRACTICE. Spec-D Drifting offers a place for new and experienced drivers to put their skills to the test on the Castrol Raceway skid-pad. All that is required is a DOT helmet and a simple safety tech inspection. Ride-alongs for spectators are also welcomed with most drivers. Drivers: $40, Spectators $10. Gates Open at 5 PM, with tech shortly after to ensure drivers can get on the track as soon as possible. Practice goes until 10 PM or later on busy nights.

FRIDAY, June 30
DRAG STRIP: JB’S POWER CENTRE STREET LEGAL. The NHRA sanctioned 1/4 mile Drag strip at Castrol Raceway is home to one of Canada’s fastest growing factions of Street Rods and Sport Compact Cars. Since the inception of the “Fast and The Furious” sub-culture the demand for extreme sports is ever increasing. Competitors and spectators jump at the chance to see their friends, family and adversaries compete on the quarter mile.
Castrol Raceway works very closely with the Leduc RCMP, Stony Plain RCMP, Edmonton Police Service, and numerous local High Schools to not only promote the sport, but to encourage young street racers to take their passion for speed to a safe environment.
Join us at Castrol Raceway and race your vehicle during the weekly JB’s Power Centre Street Legal. As long as your vehicle is register-able and insurable… you’re good to go! Streel Legal is presented in conjunction with Edmonton Police Service’s Blue Line Racing Association, and the RCMP’s Y.I.E.L.D. program.
Race All Night for only $40. Spectators: $10. Gates open at 5 PM and racing starts at 6:30 PM. Tech Closes at 9 PM most evenings.

CANADA DAY – SATURDAY, July 1
ROAD COURSE: SPEC-D DRIFTING PRO-AM ROUND 2. Western Canada’s only Formula D Pro2 licensing series, Spec-D, is back for another year of high-speed, sideways action! All of western Canada’s best drifters battle it out door to door throughout the 5 event Formula D Pro2 licencing series. Driver’s here will be battling for their very own Formula D Pro2 licence to move up into the big leagues for 2018.

The Nitro Ratz Junior Dragster Association is a group of dedicated kids, families and volunteers who promote sportsmanship, camaraderie, team spirit and lifelong friendships. The warmth and encouragement can be heard and felt at all times. They strive to encourage and engage all participants, including spectators, to learn and embrace their passion of drag racing. The Nitro Ratz welcome you to come and enjoy this truly amazing and eclectic group of youth as they compete for $7,500 in payouts this Canada Day weekend.

MONDAY, July 3
ROAD COURSE: TRACK JUNKIES OPEN LAPPING. Track Junkies is Alberta’s premier open-marque performance driving program. We offer owners and drivers of high-performance and sports cars the opportunity to drive their cars on a closed road course (aka race track) at speed. We provide a safe and welcoming environment for participants to explore the capabilities and limits of their high-performance and sports cars while improving their driving skills.
Our track days offer various run groups based on skill, speed and comfort level in traffic, and we enforce coordinated passing etiquette for a safe driving experience.
Instruction and coaching are available for drivers of all skill levels.
HOLIDAY MONDAY, July 3. Instructional track tour 8:00 AM. Drivers’ meeting 8:30 AM. Track hot from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Time Attack run group. Price $295 per driver; +$100 for novice instruction;
+$25 for transponder (time attack only).
