Calgary Kart Racing Club (CKRC) is a non-profit multi class kart racing club with a long history with members from ages 8 – 60 years old. Come out to Strathmore Motorsports Park & see exciting CKRC kart racing events. A lot of great Canadian IndyCar drivers came from kart racing such as Paul Tracy & James Hinchcliffe.

Congratulations to 14-year-old Alex Berg Calgary Kart Racing Club (CKRC) racer just earned a spot on the Mazda Motorsports USA Spec MX-5 Challenge Factory Racing Team. Alex Berg started racing with the CKRC in 2015 at Strathmore Motorsports Park when he was 8 years old. Alex is another example of racing in the blood as his father is Allen Berg, a former F1 driver & Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame inductee. He will also represent Canada at the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals in Portugal.

If you ever wanted to go kart racing now is your chance. The CKRC have a great way to see if kart racing is for you, ‘Try a Kart’, program designed allows the public to experience kart racing for a small fee. Experience real race karts, with an hour-long classroom instruction & then 3 on track sessions. https://ckrc.com/tryakart

2021 CKRC UPDATES

49 Karting Championships
The CKRC is planning on hosting a standalone karting event this year on July 22-25 at Strathmore Motorsports Park called the North of 49 Karting Championships. For now, we are only rolling out limited information so that racers will save the date and come to our event. Later in January we will be releasing more info regarding the innovative race format that we want to introduce. Basically, there are more than a few things that we want to do at this event that will encompass an enjoyable weekend for the whole family.

Off Season Track improvements:
The paddock has been expanded on the West side and has double that area for trailer parking to help us host larger events. For 2021 we have an exceptionally good schedule with very few conflicts with our sister club, EDKRA, so it should be a remarkably busy karting season for those who want to travel.

Cardel Race Control
The Race control will be known as Cardel Race Control after a generous donation by Cardel Homes. Bigger Race control with integrated Wi-Fi and Air conditioning and heating. It will also house the position indicator board that is in winched into and out of position with its permanent attached winch. We have ensured that future upgrades will be easily incorporated. AMRA (mini bikes) new timing system will also be incorporated into it so they can also use Race Control. It was manufactured by me and long-term volunteer Wayne Orpe (CKRC Starter) at Rapid Response welding and fabrication shop in the SE. The build took 6 weeks to complete. I can see just about everywhere same size windows both sides and big windows on West end and glass door Eastend.

Blue tooth charging stations as well as USB charging stations built in. On top will house the new upgraded PA speakers and the unit now is also equipped with x 6 4K cameras that can zoom in to track action and be rewound and reviewed on a recorder to help on penalty decisions and disputes … these will be matched to a new 4K monitor for better clarity. Also included will be a permanent radio charging station so we do not have to keep taking the radios away to charge.

Volunteer Race Officials
It takes a lot of people to put on an event on; my favorite is being a track-side Corner Marshal. The best way to watch a race is to be in the kart. The second-best way to watch is to be a trackside marshal. If you are interested in racing but not sure about it yourself, being a marshal might be for you. Marshals are there for emergencies and to communicate with racers with flags and to communicate regarding the race with others via radio. Training is provided by an extremely experienced Race Director Fred Causer & experienced Marshals.

For more information volunteering a full compliment of staff required… all positions are open and anyone wanting to volunteer can contact manager@ckrc.com Or the new VP Operations Vp.operations@ckrc.com
