Edmonton International Raceway (EIR) is pleased to offer another exciting car racing event – The Blackjacks Roadhouse 200 on Saturday, August 12th. A field of 24 Super Late Model cars, from western Canada and as far away as Washington state, will vie for points towards the SLM Championship. Because of the number of drivers, the largest number registered for a single race in the series in Western Canada over the past ten years, a qualifying race or “B-MAIN” will be required.

“This race will be one of the largest fields that to take the track this year”, says EIR spokesperson, Loretta Theiring. “These cars are fast, and we a expect the Blackjacks Roadhouse 200 to be one
of the most thrilling race events of the season”.

The Super Late Model division racing is popular throughout North America. The cars are similar to the NASCAR Pinty’s Series and Pro Cup Series but are lighter and faster. Super Late Model’s use a modern or domestic late model aftermarket fibreglass body on a fully fabricated tubular racing chassis with complete driver safety systems. Suspension systems are designed and built entirely for racing with coil over shocks and rack and pinion steering. To equalize the competition, SLM’s are allowed to run an unmodified GM racing crate engine with aluminium heads and roller cam shaft, a 650 CFM four barrel carburettor and racing headers.
Saturday’s race will feature current point leader Trent Seidel and his Thunderbolt Racing team, closely followed by local drivers Kelly and Ian Admiraal, who will be doing their best to represent northern Alberta at the finish line.
