Car 27 Andrew Ranger Mopar/Pennzoil Dodge won the Inaugural race last year. This was Ranger’s 1st oval win, but he is always a contender when on track. Last years polesitter Car 18 Alex Tagliani EpiPen/CGI/CanTorque Chevrolet. Tagliani is still hot after wining poles & his oval win at Sunset Speedway might still have the momentum to win.

Car 22 Scott Steckly Canadian Tire Dodge & Car 3 Jason Hathaway agna Brakes/Fast Eddie/HGC Chevrolet are always contenders on an oval.

The fan favorite would have to be Car 87 Erica Thiering #RaceCarByAva/CBRT Ford, 6 Time NASCAR Whelen All-American Series EIR Track Champion. Not only is this her home track, her family are the owner & operators of the track. As I have interviewed her before, this race will be her most important race this season in front of her hometown fans. The Rookie of the Year candidate started this season with Canada’s Best Racing Team (CBRT) alongside team-mate and General Manager of the team, Joey McColm. Look for Erica in her pink race car designed by Ava using the home track advantage for a good finish in the race.

The Alberta Has Energy 300 will be the first Canadian Tire Series appearance of the season for Alberta natives Adam Dowler (Sherwood Park), Shania LaForce (Athabasca), Jamie Krzysik (Grande Prairie) and James Van Domselaar (Fort Saskatchewan). It will actually mark the Canadian Tire Series debut for Dowler, younger brother of series regular Noel Dowler. Manitoba’s Nick Jewell (Fort Frances) and Saskatchewan’s Jason Hankewich (Kindersley) are also slated to make their first start of the year.
